I like to write synths that run on iPhones, turning them into sensor instruments, which I use to improvise with other people (like Robin Hayward and Rhodri Davies), do solo stuff and play in a duo with Atau Tanaka.

I like to do collaborations with interesting people: I recently had a great time working with Caroline Bergvall on her Middling English exhibition at the John Hansard Gallery, Southampton. I’m currently working with Laura Harrington and Kaffe Matthews on ‘Where are the Wild Ones?’, using Max MSP to sonify data about salmon in the River North Tyne. I’m also creating an immersive soundworld for the theatre group Tender Buttons who are doing a production of Susan Sontag’s Alice in Bed.

I like to wander the moors and I like to ride my bike as fast as I possibly can. Except I bent the forks and snapped the front wheel in a misguided late night attempt at giving a friend a ‘backie’.
